We understand you may probably have some questions before joining our club. Here are some frequently asked questions.
 
What experience do I need?
Our club caters for all experience levels ranging from the complete beginner to the experienced member with 10+ years of Toastmaster experience.
 
How often does the club meet?
The club meets every Monday night at 7:30pm at Halswell Bowling Club, with the exception of public holidays.
 
Do I need to bring along anything?
No, our club provides most of the equipment, however you may need to bring props along if they are required for your speech.
 
I am already a member of another Toastmasters Club can I transfer to Oakland's?
Yes, absolutely. Simply complete the new member form and select transferring member in the appropriate section.
 
What awards do I get from Toastmasters?
We have awards for both the communication and leadership tracks;
Communication track awards include
- Competent Communicator (CC)
- Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB)
- Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS)
- Advanced Communicator Gold (ACG)
 
Leadership Tracks include
- Competent Leadership (CL)
- Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB)
- Advanced Leader Silver (ALS)
 
The highest level of achievement in our club is the Diistinguished Toastmaster (DTM) this award is presented to a member who completes both the Advanced Communicator Gold and Advanced Leader Silver.

If I don't attend do I have to pay?
Payment is still required even if you choose not to attend a meeting.

I don't speak very good English can Oaklands help me with English tutoring?
Sorry we don't offer English language tutorials, you would be best to attend an ESOL class if English is your second language.
